Fall is such a beautiful time in this area and its the best time of the year to get out and about with your family. Although it’s slowly getting colder and the days are getting a bit shorter, the vibrant autumn colours make up for it. If you’re looking for ways to explore the area this season, here’s five fun family activities for you to check out!
1.Hiking the Hills
We are so fortunate that we have so many great hiking trails in the area. From the various parts of The Bruce Trail that run through our area, to hiking the ski hills and chasing the gorgeous waterfalls, there’s so many places for you to go to burn off the turkey dinners while taking in the gorgeous changes in nature.
2. Picnicking in the Park
Our area also has some great parks, perfect for spending an afternoon hanging out with the ones you love. Pack your favourite snacks and head down to any of the parks along the shores of Georgian Bay. Although it might be a bit chilly, you’ll have great views of the bay and can have the space to hang out with your family.
3. Lying in the Leaves
Want to spend some time outdoors but don’t want to head too far away from home? This next fall activity is great for your own front yard — and you can get some work done too! Spend an afternoon raking leaves with your children, but let the run through the pile and have fun with it. Not only will they burn tons of energy, but grab and camera and capture these memories as they happen.
4. Reaching for Red Delicious
We’re so lucky to live in an area that has a vibrant agricultural background, so why not go out and learn about it? Take your family to a pick-your-own apple orchard, where you can learn more about how apples are produced and grab some snacks for you to take home too!
5. Have a salute to summer by sipping it away
Although the summertime is known as patio season, it doesn’t mean it has to end. If you have older children — or just need a break from the kids — take some time checking out the local wineries and cideries. Not only do most of the local spots have tours and tastings, but you can learn more about how they’re produced in our area. Regardless of you spend your autumn season, it’s always great to get out and explore what our area has to offer!
