Home > Local Activities > Woodview Mountaintop Skating at Blue Mountain Resort

Last year, Blue Mountain Resort opened their newest attraction – Woodview Mountaintop Skating and it has been an absolute hit! The week that the skating loop opened Kelly & Kelsey went to check it out and we have all of the details you need to know before you go. It is yet another reason to come and visit Blue Mountain (like we needed more?!)

What is it?

The Woodview Mountaintop Skating is a 1.1km skating loop at the top of the Blue Mountain ski hills overlooking the Niagara Escarpment. Entry allows you 2 hours full of skating on this beautiful trail. Skate around the loop surrounded by the beautiful forest and wave to the skiers and snowboarders as they hop off of the ski lifts before their runs down the hills. There is also a skating pad that is in the middle of part of the loop.

It is an extremely family friendly attraction at Blue. All skating levels are welcome and they even have large red stabilizing guides for beginners. Even better than the classic chair!

After your skate be sure to bring the family in for a nice warm hot chocolate in the skate hut.

Where is it?

Woodview Mountaintop Skating is at the top of Blue Mountain overlooking the rest of the Resort between Orchard Express and Southern Comfort. It is easiest to park at the top of the hill for the skating in their parking lot at 201 Scenic Caves Road, The Blue Mountains. There are two full parking lots up there, one on either side of the road, so if the first one on the east side is full do not worry! There will be plenty of room in the second parking lot on the west side of the road! From the parking lot, follow the clearly marked signs to the loop and you are on your way.

Can I Rent Skates?

Don’t have skates of your own? Don’t worry! Rentals are available for a very reasonable price! PRO TIP: it can be quite crowded and busy in the skating hut. If you are renting skates be sure to sign the waiver form BEFORE you get in line for your skating pass/rentals. If you have not signed the waiver when you get to the front of the line, when you ask to rent skates you will have to go to the back of the line, sign the waiver and start again.

Want to add skate rentals to that? It will be $19 for children 12 and under, $22 for adults.

When Can I Skate, and How Much Will It Cost?

For 2 hours of skating it costs $13 for children 12 and under, $16 for adults.

Open:

Sunday : 10am-8pm

Monday-Thursday: 12pm-8pm

Friday-Saturday: 10am-9pm

Hours are dependent on weather and light conditions.

As of now the skating loop is planning on being open until March. Woodview Mountain Top skating is tons of fun for the whole family, get out and enjoy it while you can!
