Welcome to Flesherton which is located in the Municipality of Grey Highlands. Local Flesherton residents include many artists and musicians, farmers, as well as many business people. Although many would not expect it, Flesherton is a strong arts and history loving community with several art galleries and antique shops decorating the town’s streets. Moreover, the South Grey Museum is a great place to learn about the history of Flesherton and the surrounding area.  There you can find out about local figure Agnes Macphail that was born and raised in the Flesherton area who went on to become the first woman elected to Canadian Parliament.Flesherton is also a hub for several eclectic and unique stops for local foods as well as some great restaurants. On the main street you will find a variety of locally owned shops including the Bakery & Cafe, Leslieville Cheese Market & Fine Foods, Peasemarsh Farms and other small cafes. All of these spots are great places to get an assortment of specialty foods and pantry items to stock your shelves. The Flesherton Farmer’s Market which runs on Saturday mornings from May to October is also a great place to get locally grown and made products. Furthermore, there are many fantastic local restaurants in the Flesherton area, one of which is the Flying Spatula. This diner just off of Highway 10 was featured on the Food Network’s show “You Gotta Eat Here” that showcases eateries in Canada that highlight amazing food and unique culinary experiences. As you can tell by the name of the show, when you are in Flesherton, stop in at the Spatula because ‘you gotta eat here’!

Flesherton is also home to lots of outdoor recreation. Flesherton Hills Local Wildlife Education centre, located just outside of downtown Flesherton, is a great place for hiking in the warmer months and for snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the winter. Also a highlight in the winter, downhill skiing is offered at the Beaver Valley Ski Club which is only a 10 minute drive away. In the summer, Lake Eugenia is also very close by providing opportunities for swimming, paddling, boating, and fishing. Eugenia Falls and Hogg’s Falls are two gorgeous local waterfalls with lovely hiking trails that are great forthe whole family to enjoy as they are not too difficult. Spring, summer, fall or winter, Flesherton has lots to explore and enjoy outdoors!

Flesherton is close to all the amenities you may need such as grocery stores, banks, post offices, and a hospital all less than 10 minutes away.  There are plenty of small businesses such as restaurants, cafes and shops located in Flesherton.  With such a variety of locally grown foods, Flesherton offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy local cuisine and even delve into cooking yourself!  Also close are Owen Sound and Orangeville, which have more stores, boutiques, department stores, large supermarkets, cinemas, and fine dining. The Blue Mountains and Collingwood are also only a short drive away giving even more options for amenities and more urban options. Flesherton is the perfect place to live if you want the country lifestyle without sacrificing convenience.

With such a variety of activities and points of interest, from shopping downtown, to checking out the various natural wonders, there is so much to do in the Flesherton area. Add in the amazing locals that make up the town and it is clear to see why Flesherton draws people in from near and far to visit and live in!  And it’s only a 1.5 hour drive from Kitchener/Waterloo and 2 hours from the GTA.
